Zah-Soo National Park

Zah-Soo National Park, established in March 2022 within the Binder Léré Reserve in southwestern Chad, protects a critical ecosystem. The park and reserve are home to Chad's third-largest elephant population and a vulnerable population of endangered manatees in Lake Léré. In response to a severe elephant massacre incident by Sudanese horsemen in early 2018, the Chadian government requested our assistance to safeguard the local elephant population. Our subsequent work and sustained presence were instrumental in the park's creation, and we played a co-leading role throughout its development.
