Erdi

Situated north of the Ennedi Reserve in Chad's remote northeastern corner, bordering Libya and Sudan, the Erdi region is one of Africa's most isolated and inaccessible areas. Known to harbor rebel groups and trafficking networks, the region presented formidable challenges. In December 2022, during an expedition with African Parks, we were granted a rare opportunity to explore this uncharted territory. Remarkably, despite the inherent difficulties, wildlife persists. We encountered multiple groups of Barbary sheep, a vulnerable species native to North Africa's rocky mountain ranges.
