Aouk domain

Located in southeastern Chad, the Aouk domain forms a critical buffer and transboundary area within the Greater Zakouma Ecosystem, bordering the Central African Republic. Historically, this area boasted some of Africa's highest wildlife concentrations. Unfortunately, sustained and intense illegal hunting over many decades has severely depleted animal populations, leading to the local extinction of numerous species.
